The auction that took place during the anniversary celebration on Monday, September 17 raised 12,700 euros. The profits from the auction will go straight back into a motivational program for women working for our client, Jaipur Rugs.
Over 120 experts, friends and business partners joined the anniversary celebration that was opened in style by Maria van der Heijden and Ellen Tacoma. In a short film they showed HRH Princess Máxima revealing the number of jobs created: 51,300 jobs for women in rural India! In another film Indian women talk about what a job means to them.
Experts Ronald van het Hof and Nicolette Biessels offered insight into what it’s like to work as an expert. Ronald van het Hof: “In our work, it’s about hocus, pocus… and focus.” Clients in India were unable to attend the celebration in person, but congratulated Women on Wings on screen.
The evening ended with the auction, with auctioneer Willem Berdenis van Berlekom taking on the job of selling off the 40 lots in a professional, but fun way. The final lot of the evening came as something of a surprise; it was the chance to spend a day at work with Eberhard van de Laan, Mayor of Amsterdam. This lot alone raised 700 euros! The total amount raised by the auction was 12,700 euros.
