Santosh, a young woman born and brought up in Juniya village, Rajasthan, works as a coordinator for seven women’s self-help groups (SHG) in neighboring villages. A Women on Wings team met Santosh during a visit to rural Rajasthan to shoot a film about its work.
Namratha Rao, expert in Communications at Women on Wings: “We met many women in the villages while shooting film, but Santosh really stood out. She is passionate about helping the women in the villages by raising their awareness. Santosh has to survive in a male dominated environment, but she is thriving.”
Santosh witnesses that when women earn an income, the communities these women live in are impacted in a positive way. Santosh strongly believes that she can achieve anything that she sets her mind to. She also believes that her work will not only take herself ahead but will ensure the women in these villages achieve their own personal successes as well. Alongside her role as a coordinator for the SHG’s, Santosh is pursuing her final year of graduate studies. All this from the rural village she lives in.
