Women on Wings has many reasons to mark 2016 as a successful year. There were many highlights. Just to mention a few, we:
- Welcomed eleven business partners, eight funding partners, three network partners, twelve volunteer experts.
- Saw growth to a total of 207,500 jobs for women in rural India.
- Celebrated our 9th anniversary with a ‘silent auction’ at the residence of the Dutch ambassador in Delhi.
- Won the Dutch NRC Charity Award 2016.
- Were runner up in PwC’s Transparency Award.
Team work makes the dream work
For the two Dutch founders of Women on Wings it was a special year: they handed over their management responsibilities to the joint Managing Directors in India. Ellen Tacoma and Maria van der Heijden, co-founders Women on Wings: “We started in 2007 with a clear goal; to co-create one million jobs for women in rural India. Our vision was also that Women on Wings would be an Indian led organization by 2017. Due to our professional team we could make that transition already this year. We are extremely proud on them, maybe even more so looking at the operations from a distance now. It’s a team that’s making our dream work, jointly with our experts and partners, both in India and the Netherlands!”
Happy New Year! Naye sal ki shubh kamnaye!
The team of Women on Wings wishes all experts, partners, and other well-wishers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Naye sal ki shubh kamnaye! We look forward working with you in 2017, our tenth jubilee year.
