Women on Wings has many reasons to mark 2017 as a memorable and successful year. There were many highlights. Just to mention a few, we:
• Welcomed six business partners, eight funding partners, two network partners, eleven volunteer experts.
• Saw growing global support to our work in India.
• Co-created thousands of new jobs, totaling to 230,000 jobs for women in rural India.
• Existed 10 years.
Ten years impact in India
This year marked the 10th anniversary of Women on Wings This was celebrated with a business event in which the organization showcased its impact of 10 years. Last mile beneficiary Durga Yadav shared with the audience how having a job and income changed her life for the better. Thanks to her income Durga is able to pay for the studies of her three children, enabling them to dream big and create a better future for themselves. Anjali Schiavina, founder and CEO at Mandala Apparels shared how the consultancy of Women on Wings experts has supported her team in becoming better versions of themselves, enabling them to bring the social business to the next level.
Royal support for Women on Wings approach
Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands congratulated the Women on Wings team in a personal letter with its 10th anniversary. In the letter Queen Máxima wrote: “Women on Wings has helped to improve the lives of more than 200,000 families in rural India. By sharing knowledge and skills, it enables women to earn their own living. A wonderful example of helping people make a better future for themselves and their communities.”
