Women on Wings has entered into a new program with Jindal Stainless Foundation and DharmaLife which aims on behavior change through campaigns, making sanitary pads accessible at the last mile and creating opportunities for women entrepreneurs to earn a sustainable livelihood.
Creating women entrepreneurs
The program will create opportunities for women entrepreneurs to earn a sustainable livelihood from the sale of social impact products and conducting awareness campaigns in their communities. Shilpa Mittal Singh, Joint MD at Women on Wings: “We are proud to start this program with Jindal Stainless. DharmaLife is a long-term partner. We have successfully worked with them on another program. This new program aims on selecting and training 50 rural women entrepreneurs in the sales and distribution of sanitary pads. DharmaLife will identify, train and mentor these rural women, provide access to socially impactful products and services like improved cook stove, solar lights and water purifiers and in the process, we improve their livelihoods.”
Bringing experience
DharmaLife and Women on Wings have been partnering since a number of years in another sanitary pads program. This three year program was successfully closed in October 2017. DharmaLife realized its goal of recruiting 815 female entrepreneurs in sales and distribution of sanitary pads in villages in two districts in Bihar. These entrepreneurs were recruited from the villages and sold the sanitary pads from a social basket which also included products like soap and solar lights.
