Women on Wings social enterprise partner since February 2015
GoCoop is India’s first social online marketplace for weavers and artisans. The platform is based on a unique method (patent pending) of connecting buyer and sellers. It brings together the producer organizations of these weavers and artisans to collectively market their produce online, thereby significantly reducing cost of marketing.
GoCoop is an organization dedicated to socio-economic development of co-operatives and community based organizations through technology innovation. One of the key challenges faced by the sector is in marketing their produce. The weavers & primary co-ops at the village level sell their products to local traders at very low prices who in turn sell at much higher margin to retailers & export houses. GoCoop was formed to address this need of the producers to market their products & facilitate direct market linkages.
Women on Wings and GoCoop share a joint goal in increasing the number of jobs- and livelihood opportunities for women in handloom and handicraft sector in rural India who are connected with GoCoop. At the start of collaboration, 1,500 rural women are connected to GoCoop.
