EcoAd’s mission is to make cities of India free from plastic carry bags by replacing them with eco & socio-friendly paper bags that are made from upcycled newspapers by rural women. This way they not only create a greener tomorrow but also create better livelihood for rural families.
End of July, a team of Women on Wings worked three days with the young and eager EcoAd management in Pune. Ronald van het Hof, MD at Women on Wings, and Shashank Theotia, Senior Business Consultant at Women on Wings, worked with the team on identifying the business & sales strategy. And Karen de Loos, expert in marketing communication at Women on Wings, worked on the branding & communications approach to increase sales of the paper bags which can be used up to 20 times.
Karen: “By focusing on their target customers we worked on aligning all communication materials like consistency in the use of the logo and story to tell, colors, images, etc.. We also discussed a possible (joint) promotions strategy, focused on relevant consumer moments throughout the year. I had a great time working with the young EcoAd team. It was a great combination of hard work and fun.”
EcoAd, new business partner for Women on Wings since July 2016, provides rural women with skills to manufacture high quality products. The production of the upcycled newspapers is done in rural small scale businesses. This way, a greener tomorrow is not just good for the environment, it also creates employment for rural women. Who in their turn will spend their income on improving the family household and sending their children to school.
