Women on Wings’ latest milestone is a total of over 221,000 jobs for women in rural India. The growth in the number of jobs is the result of successful partnerships with 33 business partners in India. Women on Wings experts share their time and knowledge pro bono with these social enterprises to support them in expanding their businesses so they sell more products and thus create more employment for women.
660,000 children in school
The exact number of jobs for women co-created is 221,631 in a period of over nine years. Women on Wings measures its impact twice a year with its business partners. These 221,000 jobs mean a better existence for over 221,000 Indian families who can now prepare two meals a day. As an extra result, more than 660,000 children are in (a better) school thanks to the fact their mothers have a job with an income.
Royal support
Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. In March 2017, Her Majesty wrote to Women on Wings: “Women on Wings has helped to improve the lives of more than 200,000 families in rural India. By sharing knowledge and skills, it enables women to earn their own living. A wonderful example of helping people make a better future for themselves and their communities.” Queen Máxima showed her support to the Women on Wings work earlier by attending its 5th anniversary event in 2012.
Impact through business consultancy
