Women on Wings social enterprise partner since July 2020
Kshitij Education & Rural Development (Kshitij) works on health, hygiene & sanitation in remote rural areas to address women health & hygiene issues on a larger platform. It successfully set up a sanitary napkin making unit in district Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh) with the machines and model started by Mr. Arunachalam Murugantham, also known as Padman.
To realize sustainable economic and social empowerment of the rural women, Kshitij also started working with SHGs that already produced handicrafts and agro based products. Each SHG consists of ± 10 rural women. Currently, Kshitij is associated with 100 women. Its dream is to engage 980 SHGs in the region under one umbrella so that it can give maximum benefits to the marginal farmers and the SHG women and create sustainable businesses at SHG level.
Kshitij’s founder is Ms Pratibha Singh, a social entrepreneur from Lucknow. FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) Lucknow chapter has collaborated with Kshitij in its efforts for creating livelihood opportunities for women in Rural areas. Women on Wings and FLO are partners, and both organizations constantly look for synergies and opportunities how to support each other’s work. Chairperson FLO Lucknow chapter, Ms Puja Garg, introduced Women on Wings to Kshitij.
Kshitij and Women on Wings will collaborate on their joint goal of increasing the number of jobs and create livelihood opportunities for women in rural India where Kshitij is working through its SHGs.
