Women on Wings social enterprise partner since June 2021
GramHeet Private Limited (GramHeet) is on a mission to build an ecosystem where every farmer cultivates with dignity and feeds the world with pride.
GramHeet is an amalgamation of two vernacular Marathi words—‘Gram’ and ‘Heet’ which translates into ‘prosperity of the village’. GramHeet espouses this through the ‘farmers first’ approach. This stems from the fact that both its co-founders themselves come from farming families in a small village called Warud in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. Their own living experience of agrarian distress propelled them to build GramHeet.
Providing holistic services to farmers at their farm-gate
Having understood the complexity of agrarian distress, GramHeet has come up with a holistic model which provides end-to-end post-harvest services to farmers through a digital platform—GramHeet Mandi. It collaborates with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) such as Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Farmer Groups (FGs), Women Collectives as well as Village Entrepreneurs (VEs) to deliver these services at their farm-gate. This integrated model not only helps farmers in increasing their income by reducing post-harvest expenses, but also offers better prices for their produce.
Creating livelihood opportunities
Women on Wings and GramHeet have started collaborating on their joint mission to create livelihood opportunities for women in rural India through generating jobs. By joining forces, the two social enterprises are working on improving livelihoods of families in rural India. GramHeet operates its business from Warud, Maharashtra.
