Han Agrocare LLP, founded by Dr. Hiresha Verma — widely known as the “Himalayan Queen of Mushrooms”— was born out of a life-altering tragedy: the devastating Uttarakhand floods of 2013. While volunteering in affected villages, Dr. Hirehsa witnessed the aftermath — grieving women, orphaned children, and families torn apart by disaster. It was then that she made a lifelong commitment: to empower hill women through sustainable livelihoods that no flood could ever wash away.
Guided by her core belief that “Nothing is Impossible for a Willing Heart,” Han Agrocare became the first-of-its-kind social enterprise in India’s Himalayan belt to train women in the scientific cultivation of medicinal mushrooms—such as Shiitake, Reishi, Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail, Chaga and Cordyceps—via sustainable, climate-smart vertical farming.
Since its inception, Han Agrocare has trained and uplifted over 5000+ rural and tribal women and landless farmers across Uttarakhand and neighboring hill states. The model offers not just training and tools, but a guaranteed buy-back system, ensuring income stability, food security, and dignity for marginalized communities.
In synergy with its innovation-driven counterpart, Han Agri Innovations Pvt. Ltd., led by Dr. Anish Verma (CEO) and Dr. Nishita Verma (COO), the mushrooms cultivated by Han Agrocare are transformed into high-bioactivity extracts, nutraceutical supplements, and functional foods under the brand Hi Shroomz. This creates a closed-loop value chain where Himalayan women are not just cultivators— they are co-creators of India’s wellness revolution.
By partnering with Women on Wings, Han Agrocare now aims to scale this impact to 10,000+ women by 2026, proving that resilience, when empowered by purpose and science, becomes unstoppable.
