Since August 6, Tata Trusts and Women on Wings join hands in realizing greater sustainable social impact by creating jobs for women in rural India. With a focus on the eastern states of India, Tata Trusts will support the existing activities of Women on Wings in Jharkhand and Assam. Women on Wings will bring in its’ business expertise to accelerate the growth of rural enterprises related to Tata Trusts activities.
Tata family: a tradition of trust
Strong beliefs on sharing of wealth led the founders of the Tata Group to endow a number of philanthropic trusts. Tata Trusts comprises members of the Tata family. About 66% of the equity of the Tata Group returns to community development via the Trusts. In 1919, the first Trust was established and profit from the Tata companies was used to improve the quality of life of the underserved. Today, Tata focuses on activities in health, education, natural resource management and improving rural livelihoods.
