Women on Wings consults these Indian State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) programs pro bono:
- Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS)
- Maharashtra’s Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM)
- Uttarakhand’s Gramya Vikas Samiti (UGVS)
We do this because SRLMs provide scale, have already mobilized and trained women and have established resource centers that provide access to funds, market, and mentorship to women beneficiaries.
With the gracious support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Women on Wings has the privilege of extending professional business knowledge to these SRLMs to scale our impact of co-creating sustainable jobs for women living in rural India. Together we can work toward gender equality and breaking the circle of poverty through economic and rural development.
Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society
The State Rural Development Department in Jharkhand is actively working on the overall development of rural Jharkhand. It has established a separate and autonomous society, Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), which works as a nodal agency for effective implementation of livelihood promotion in the state.
JSLPS has introduced the brand Palash in 2020 with the aim to provide access to market to the women who are mobilized and trained by them in the producing and processing of various products – largely Food & Agri related. Since March 2022, Women on Wings and JSLPS have collaborated on developing a complete business strategy to set targets, identify gaps and follow a road map to achieve these targets. We’ve created multiple on-site workshops for Palash with an objective of creating a sustainable brand that will create regular income and more jobs for women in Jharkhand.
Suraj Kuma
IAS officer, former CEO at JSLPS
“Women on Wings has been quite instrumental in creating a viable ecosystem for the Palash brand in a methodical manner. This partnership will lead to changes in the lives of rural women in Jharkhand.”
Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal
Women on Wings’ mission is completely aligned with MAVIM’s objective. MAVIM is a groundbreaking initiative undertaken by the Government of Maharashtra, under the aegis of the Women and Child Welfare Department. Its mission is to advance gender justice and equality for women, invest in women’s human capital and capacity building, empower them economically and socially, and to enable access to sustainable livelihoods.
We partnered with Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM) in January 31, 2023, in Mumbai with a mission to co-create sustainable livelihoods for rural women of Maharashtra. We have agreed to collaborate for a minimum of three years; from January 2023 till January 2026.
Uttarakhand’s Gramya Vikas Samiti
Uttarakhand’s Gramya Vikas Samiti (UGVS) is promoted by the Department of Rural Development, Government of Uttarakhand to undertake implementation of livelihood projects. UGVS is engaged in the implementation of the Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP) which is developing the House of Himalayas brand’s packaging and marketing of products from the state.
Women on Wings dedicates efforts toward strengthening the House of Himalayas as a robust and sustainable brand to co-create livelihood opportunities for women living in rural Uttarakhand. Together, we crafted a comprehensive business plan and a road map and we are developing a branding and marketing strategy, identify products with potential, determine cost pricing, backward integration-streamlining processes and supply chain efficiency creation. We will also develop organizational structure and capacity building for HR systems/procedures.
