PACES stands for Production of Artisanal Crafts For Empowerment of Society. Paces Crafts is one of the workplaces of Solid Crafts, a Belgian non-profit organization. Solid’s mission it is to take underprivileged girls and women out of poverty and empower them by creating decent jobs that boost their authentic local handcrafting skills in fair social workshops in the poorest regions of Peru, India and Kenia. Solid does this with hybrid organizations: sustainable joint ventures of responsible commercial entities and social organizations, one being Paces Crafts in India.
In India, Solid works in Ranchi, the capital of the state of Jharkhand. It works with conscious brands and retailers and uses highly qualitative materials and authentic crafts from rural women for its customized products.
As a social company, Solid / Paces Crafts aims to double its impact by investing all profits made in social projects that protect vulnerable children in need. This way, its artisans are not only empowering themselves and their families, they also share their wins and invest in a better future for their own society.
